"Velus, you say?" Fred said. "No, I didn't encounter anyone by that name.
Perhaps he was able to make his escape from wherever he was in the caves
when I killed the dragon. Look, perhaps you'd be willing to help me?"
"Of course," Leonora replied. "After all, you've killed the dragon and freed me." She looked at him with hero-worshipping eyes. Fred wanted to get her to help him to remove more of the treasure. But he realised that he couldn't let the girl go into the dragon's lair, or she would be bound to see Velus and realise that she had been lied to. "I need some help in carrying out the dragon's treasure," he told her. "It would be a pity not to take as much of it with us as we can. Would you be willing to come back with me and wait just outside the lair? I don't want you to go in, as it's pretty horrific in there, what with the dragon lying dead and its black ichor everywhere." "Of course I'd be glad to do that, but what am I going to carry treasure in? This chemise doesn't even have any pockets." "On its underbelly, the dragon has leathery skin without any scales. I could cut a large patch free with my sword, and we could fashion a bag from it."
