One morning, they discovered that a wooden shelf had mysteriously appeared
on the beach overnight. It was made of inch-thick oak and highly polished.
It hadn't been washed up by the sea, for the books standing on it were all
perfectly dry.
"I recognise these books," Lord Fred said. "It's my bookshelf from my bedroom back home. What a remarkable coincidence!" Astra read out the titles: "Dragonslaying for Dummies; Questing for Fun and Profit; The Quick Route to Better Swordplay..." They were all very much the sort of thing she would have expected, until the final title on the row caused her to look at Fred in a whole new light:
