A bright glob of galaxy border energy shot at the ship at Warp 9.9. It was
onboad before Kim could open his mouth. "Oh, Q." he said. He tapped the red alert but poke Q's eyes instead. Kim blinked. He was standing in the middle of the bridge. Everyone and everything had been frozen. "Ow, Kimmy!" Q whined like a little girl. "That hurt! Now, time for the choice." "What are you talking about, Q?" That's it, Kim thought to himself. Starfleet records have indicated Q likes being stood up to. "No I don't." said Q, reading his mind. "But I respect you courage." Q backed up a step. Which was over mid-air but he did not drop. "Now it is time to choose." "Unfreeze the ship, Q!" Kim demanded. "How about, no?" Q replied. "You made the deal so both crews could survive on one ship without overwhelming the resources. Now pick a crew member to come with me and never return." Kim gasped. "First, I do not recall a deal. Second, if this deal exists, which I highly doubt, you'd know I would choose myself." Q shook his head. His clothes changed, turning into the pajama Starfleet uniform of about ninety years ago. Kim couldn't help but be amused. It looked as silly as several Trill, who had been Starfleet consultants then, had said. "First." Q said in Kim's voice. "Amnesia was part of the deal. Second, sacrificing yourself was not part of the deal." "Tough!" said Kim. "I would never negotiate the giving away of a friend." "Friend?" said Q, now sitting in Chakotay's chair. "Not crewmember?" "I've known these people for six years." said Kim. "They are friends. Something you probably don't understand." Q rotated his fists in front of his eyes. "Boo hoo hoo. Score one for the Ensign. Now will you obey the deal or not?" There is more arguing.
