The Lady Andrea, selfish egomaniac though she was (and considering that
almost ALL the Allarian nobility saw themselves as above mere
humanity, who could blame her?!!?) had indeed learned well from her
attractive sword teacher. With a swipe and a parry, a thrust and a kick
(just for good measure) the dark shape was felled!
And yet, even as the sweat soaked through her moistened clothing and her muscles began their arduous journey from instinctual terror back to calm certainty, she saw that her "enemy" was nothing more nor less than a bear- skin rug. It hung from the branches of a tree, now cut and cleaved, and once she shook herself from its draping embrace she began to laugh. "By the Gods! This is a most excellent adventure!" She wiped nervous tears from her cheek and sheathed her sword. Her mind turned briefly to her faithful coachman, now dead at the hands of murderers, but just as quickly the image flitted to that of her swordsman. "Ah, my big hunk-a- love, you would be proud to see this... of course not as proud as when we were together in my bed..." Andrea turned from the harmless rug and looked again at the dilapitated village. Father never told me of any abandoned settlements within our lands, she thought. none except northwards, close to the burning mountains and the Haunted Wood. I must leave this place for the now, I must get to the inn first!
