Remembering that Checkers had marked the place that Belboz’s tome was open
to with a feather, Fred opened the book to that page. There was another
poem here. To Fred’s surprise, it was written in common Allarian. Fred
figured he might as well read it aloud. What’s the worst thing that could
happen?
I think that I shall never see,
Busy busy busy bee,
Without warning, thousands of bees suddenly swarmed up from the ground and completely enveloped Belboz’s body! “What did you just do?” Checkers shrieked in horror, her little voice barely heard over the thunderous buzzing. Almost as soon as it had begun, the din subsided and the bees disappeared. Belboz’s body was twitching as if in an epileptic seizure. The twitching slowed, and Belboz arose. “Fools!” he shouted, his voice now restored. “Did you really think that you could keep down a NECROMANCER. After death, we are even more powerful than in life!” He let loose with an evil cackle.
