Unfortunately, Velus was only a simple country boy. He had failed to
understand that Emry was only king because he had faked the death of his
elder brother Cederik, the rightful king, and then had sent Cederik to be
kept prisoner by the dragon. When Velus' confused tale was met with
incredulity by his fellow villagers, he decided to go to Caemlyn himself
to warn the king.
Meanwhile, after having been bid farewell by Velus, Cederik, Fred and Astra had somehow managed to go astray, and - with one suit of armour and one sword between the three of them - were still wandering through the caverns looking for the way out.
