Having much earlier on given Astra his sword, Fred readied his dagger, wishing that he had thought to ask the gnome if he had a spare sword which he could borrow. Fred and Astra attempted a flanking movement, with Fred creeping round to the left and Astra creeping round to the right. Velus wisely waited behind a rock.

Fred and Astra would obviously only have the chance of one strike each before their presence would be revealed. Thus they had to make sure that they struck simultaneously, and that those initial strikes caused severe - preferably fatal - injury. Given how well dragons were armoured by their scales, that was almost asking the impossible.

  1. But against all odds they succeeded, and both dragons died.
  2. Astra killed her dragon with one mighty blow, but Fred's inferior weapon slid harmlessly off his dragon's scales.
  3. Neither dragon suffered serious injury. Our heroes were now facing two very angry, and magic-proficient, dragons.
