To everyone’s surprise, the thighbone makes the perfect crutch. With a
little practice and a lot of hard work, Fred is soon able to move quite
surprising fast through the caverns.
The progress of Beatrice and Fred is soon stymied when they come upon a small basket in the middle of a long corridor. Beatrice goes in for a closer look and to her surprise, a small human baby…no more than a few weeks old…is inside the basket. The baby looks up at Beatrice and smiles. “Aren’t you darling?” she asks. The baby coos back in return. While Fred watches over the basket, Beatrice quickly scans the area for any sign of the baby’s parents. Oddly enough there is nobody around. They could take the baby with them, but it would significantly impede their progress and interfere with the Quest to Kill the Dragon.
