Two Prisoners

Fred turned his head towards the source of the voice. Chained to the tunnel wall only a few feet further along was a beautiful, yet tall and athletic-looking, red-headed woman, just as naked as himself. "They?" he queried.

"Or he or she or it. I was unconscious when I was brought here, and when I came round a short time ago there was no-one else here but you, hanging unconscious in your chains."

"I see. But what was a woman doing in the caverns in the first place?"

"I was on a quest to kill the dragon. You look surprised. From your accent I would guess that you are an Allarian. In my land of Aqualaria such a quest is nothing out of the ordinary for a warrior-woman to undertake. So anyway, I entered the caverns in search of the dragon, but things rapidly started to become very strange. I think that I must have been hallucinating. Before long I fell unconscious, and the rest you know."

"My own experience was very similar. But I'm wondering whether I'm still hallucinating, for you must admit that our situation is very odd."

"That it is. But I'm forgetting my manners. I am Princess Astra of Aqualaria. Please just call me Astra."

"Delighted to meet you, Astra, though the circumstances are less than ideal. I am Lord Frederigo D'Honaire, heir to the Duchy of Suffex. Please call me Fred."

"Pleased to meet you Fred."

Before they could converse any further:

1. Their captor came to see them: the dragon.
2. Their captor came to see them: a wizard calling himself Belboz.
3. Something happened that made them wonder anew if this was just an hallucination.
