As Fred took his first reluctant steps onto the plank, he turned his head towards the girls and Astra saw the desperate look of entreaty on his face. I've got to do something! she thought. though with her hands tied behind her back it was hard to know just what she could do.

  1. Lowering her head, she charged at Lots, hoping that she could knock him over the side before he could react.
  2. "If you'll spare him, I'll show you where to find some treasure that I know of," she bluffed.
  3. "If you'll spare him, I'll make you beef stew with dumplings," she said.
  4. "If you'd spare him, I'd be ever so grateful, Captain. Know what I mean?" she said with a wink.
