Another Daring Escape

As you walk toward the door to the outside, you pass by a small room with a writing desk. You peek inside to make sure no one's there, then slip inside.

You take a feather pen and a sheet of parchment from the desk and sit down to compose a note to Alyssa. If you can read, you can probably write as well, and if you can write your sister can probably read. No sense in having her worry about you. You write:

Alyssa,

I left to catch up with Aaron. You stay here at the abbey, and don't tell anyone where I am. Don't worry about me -- I'll be fine.

Karen You put the pen back, return to your room, and slip the note under Alyssa's hand. Then you leave. Hopefully Alyssa's as timid as she seems.

You reach the front door, open it, and exit into the cold air. Unfortunately, the sun is beginning to rise, and the sky is rapidly growing brighter. If you're going to escape, you have to leave quiickly.

Then you see a horse tied nearby.

1. You take the horse. You're already a couple of hours behind Aaron, and he probably knows the territory better than you.
