Fred's Limp Staff

Do not cry, do not laugh,
But summon a weapon on my behalf,
Take a break from that carafe,
And fetch for me a qwsdcvnm!

The scroll disappears in a grand puff of smoke. When the smoke finally clears a mighty quarterstaff is floating before Fred.

Belboz looks pleased. “Well done! With that magical quarterstaff you should have little trouble slaying the dragon.”

Fred reached out and grabbed the quarterstaff. As soon as he did, it went limp in his hand as if it were made of cloth and not sturdy wood.

Belboz was surprised. “That’s odd,” he said. “Are you sure you recited the words exactly as they were written on the scroll?”

Fred stammered…

1. “Uh, yeah…sure!”
2. “Um, well, actually…”
