This Is Wrong, Part III

The Never Ending Quest - Episode 20177

"Or for it," the King said. "Let us not be too hasty. You and I do not have enough knowledge of the occult to interpret what this means. Before we come to any decision about whether Astra should be sent against the dragon, we must hear what the High Priestess has to say, concerning what this burnt eyeball may portend and also how our daughter's strange vision should be interpreted."

Astra wanted to say "But it's no vision", but she held her tongue. She did not think that there was any chance of getting her parents to believe that she had been sent back four years in time and, even more strangely, apparently to a slightly different parallel reality. It would not help if they concluded that she was insane and had her committed to an asylum.

The High Priestess's counsel was:

  1. That eyeballs from the sky were not known to have any predictive power, that Astra's "vision" was probably the result of over-excitement at the thought of setting out on her quest, and that she should still be sent against the dragon.
  2. That Astra should be sent on a different quest.
  3. That Astra was possessed by a demon, and accordingly a service of exorcism was called for.
