The Never Ending Quest - Episode 20163

Ragan

Yup, it's Mike Smith, the soldiers who's selling them out to the Daleks. Should have expected him to turn up sooner or later...

This could get interesting real soon here, I think.

Meanwhile....

Inquirer

"This is going to get interesting," I mutter aloud to myself.

Having already cast a spell to make sure that this young girl is indeed...er....not exactly alone within her head, I have now to figure out a way to get her away from prying eyes so a more thorough investigation can take place. Could have done it just as soon as I had spotted her, but instead I had wanted to just make sure that this girl was indeed slaved to that Battle Computer Ragan and Betty had told me about. Wouldn't wish to have grabbed a false lead (and in the process scaring the tar out of her). Oh, there had been a risk of detection when I had cast that spell, but besides a sneeze, she'd noticed nothing at all. Guess it goes to show that these Dalek's just aren't used to magic. Not even aware of it's existence, else there could have been Hell to pay.

The moment has come.

She has gone over to a remote corner to take a more clandestine view of the school that...the van with it's direction finding gear is parked in front of. Creator, either this child is either more perceptive than the contemporary grownups of her era or we are having a small run of bad luck. Indeed, I would rather not have this girl overhear something we'd rather not have her hear (and pass it on to the Dalek faction).

Okay, let us get down to it.

A few quick and silent steps and one hand over her mouth with the other holding those energy bolt throwing hands well away from me (don't care to to get jolted), I drag her over to an alley to begin.

"Murph," the girl squeels, struggling to get free. A few bolts of energy begin to form before I can mutter a spell to paralyze her in place.

Sigh.

I wish that I could have done that at the very beginning, but I fear I'd have to remain too conspicious as I muttered that spell (i.e. she'd notice me popping out of thin air as my cloak of invisibility got annulled). Oh, I can do more with that gift that I got from Malachi D'Honaire than most people (can concentrate on sneaking like you wouldn't believe but there are limits). Couldn't cast that particular spell and remained invisible.

Greetings, I send telepathically to this child, right before getting down to business.

Moments later....

Elrondir

After standing back for a few moments to watch the Professor try to win Group Captain Gilmore, I figure that I'd better step in before the guy blows his top.

"Look, it's like this...." I say as I step forward, cutting off a sputtering Professor, "What my friend here is trying to...er....explain in his own special way is that we have what you could call 'a situation'....."

Slowly and carefully, using the protocall one learns while in the military, I am able to at least calm him down somewhat to where he'll listen. See, I don't know exactly how the military folk act and react in his universe, but I fear that in this universe I fear that the good Professor has managed to rub Gilmore the wrong way, alas.

.....

Hey, you can't win them all! Not like he was actually trying to be rude, but I fear that's how he came across to Gilmore..... Gilmore's a military man and it took military protocol (which I know from my life as a Military AI, before becoming an elf) to reach him.

"Do you have proof of what you say?" Gilmore finally asks, looking now a bit worried at what I've said.

"Not to be rude, sir," I say softly, "But I fear I must answer that question with a question when I ask: 'Don't you trust your own men...who you hand picked yourself?'"

"Uh....right," Gilmore blinks, now thinking a bit more clearly with his blood down.

I can see in his eyes that he does trust his men (even though I remember that Smith probably should have been an exception), so I do believe he's now in our court (as it were).

Just as Gilmore asks us who we belong to (i.e. I believe he thinks we're some kind of government agents), that is when Inquirer comes up with that blonde girl in her arms. The girl is out cold, I see....

"This girl needs medical attention," Inquirer says sharply, "Found her out cold in a back alley."

As Ace takes the girl from Inquirer and brings her inside the van, we get a mental message from my sister.

  1. She was with the Renegade Daleks and things are as Betty say they are as far as that, she sends, So....how did the thing with "Chunky" go?
