Fred activated the Web. "Security Department, Sacramento." Within nanoseconds the server screen flashed the faceplate of the department. The image of a well-groomed security officer wearing the blue and green smiled at Fred. "Emergency at 83P, Callaway, Sacramento, Central."The holo-officer gently assured Fred that a security agent would be there within a few moments. "Just stay calm, Mr. Dionair." It told him. A strange sound coming from the door suddenly caught his ear. Was it a laserburner!? Was the man trying to get into Fred's home?"Dionair, I know you're in there!" The man continued. "C'mon, hurry up, Dionair! I think I might have been followed! Open up! Your life is in as much danger as mine..." "GO AWAY!" Fred pleaded. "Leave me alone!"The sound from the door was unmistakably that of a laserburner. "You're crazy, you know that!? Security agents will be here within a few moments, I hope you know! You psychopathic crackpot!"Fred's last comments didn't appear to dissuade the man, as the sound of the laserburner melting away his door persisted. The man outside then gave a blood-curdling cry, as if he was being attacked. The sound of the laserburner was silenced.Fred ran back to the door and once again activated the door eye. The image that appeared on the door was completely empty. There was no sign of the man. "This is too much." He told himself. "Why do I always attract these psychos?"Thirty seconds later.... Officer Baxter Sneezly was on the scene. "So you say you just met this guy today and he tried to melt down your door with a laserburner, only to scream bloody murder a few seconds later, and then disappear without a trace?""That's correct, Officer. I had a funny feeling about the man the first time I saw him. He kept blabbering on about his missing wife and something about 'starmen'. I think he's dangerous as long as he roams the streets. I reported the odd occurrence earlier this evening..." Sneezly nodded. "That isn't the first time this man has been reported for odd behavior. We've been keeping a close eye on him, but not close enough, obviously. Your front door does show signs of an attempted entry by means of a laserburner. I'll go ahead and put an Alert on his head. If we find the man or any more answers, I'll be sure to contact you. Also, I'll post a RoboAgent at your door for the rest of the night, if it makes you feel better.""I think it would." It was 2:55 by the time Officer Sneezly departed.Fred was just glad the man from 67Q was gone. But why had he screamed so horribly? Fred really didn't care, just as along as he never saw that man again... ~Damn that minibrow!~ Was his last conscious thought as he drifted into the arms of Morpheus.
