Eight, not Ten Seconds....

The Never Ending Quest - Episode 20060

Inquirer

By needs we must hurry now through the burial. The Hand of Omega has recovered enough to float about and allow itself to be buried (after we give it it's instructions on what to do after the Daleks get their manipulators on it).

......

No offense towards my husband (or his brothers, since this is Dr. What's universe), but I'd be leery of traps if I saw such an obvious sign of where the Hand of Omega was burried. The omega symbol is just like....

Nevermind. Must remember that UNIT gave an alias to the Doctor of "John Smith" of all things, to keep him inconspicuous! Like to have a long discussion with the brain who came up with that one.

Past the truck with direction finding equipment and onto the junkyard (obviously leaving a very confused agent of a Dalek faction....who'd lost his target after Sigin dropped his magical disguise somewhere safe.

We soon are near a shack that Betty says is where the boxy invader is. I've already taken care of the soldiers who'd get into trouble (i.e. died), here. Oh, they'll feel the lump on the head in the morning, but it's better that way. See, I made it look like a mugging from behind. Could have put a sleep spell on them....and then have them face charges of falling sleep on duty. Bad stuff, sleeping on duty.... Bad for career and all that. It isn't like they'd lost money in the "mugging". Don't know about their training, but at least they know enough not to carry loose (jangling) change into combat (and they didn't carry any "notes" in their wallets either). They'll be sore, but they'll live.

After we ice the Dalek we're going back to that truck and make contact with that lady scientist and that group captain nicknamed "Chunky". First though.....

Have to explain that to the Professor, who looks like he's ready to rebel because of my tatics, but he gets it.

"Still...." he mutters, before turning back to Ace (who like us all is hiding in the shadows out of sight of the shed).

"Ace, give me some of that Nitro 9 you aren't carrying," the Professor says.

Explosives soon in hand, he asks Ace the time on the fuse.

"Eight seconds," I say, looking at the fuse.

"Ten seconds," protests Ace, "I've used that in the past and it's been ten....."

"But your analog also admitted it's not exactly a science or something to that effect," I counter back, "Besides, I....have a knack for such things."

If my time in the Military hadn't taught me a few things about explosive....then I'm just a coffeepot in disguise!

"Eight, not ten seconds....right!" the Professor says, getting ready to set off.

That is when, of course, the Doctor steps in and insists on doing it himself.....

.....

Sigh.

Well, I'm going to have to ask Sigin about this, but I have a feeling that something about the relationship between this supposed analog and the Doctor might not be as it first appeared. See, even after a few (or many) regenerations the doppleganger effect should have happened. Since neither is at each others throats or like brothers (even estranged brothers)..... Oh, I'm sure that the Professor is his reality's version of the Doctor....but.....

  1. Wonder if this has something to do with something Betty said in passing about her books and something in the Dr. Who book series called "the Weave"?
