Did you say just say Corbomite?

The Never Ending Quest - Episode 19938

Annafrid:

I'm about to pass the Duke over to speak to the Captain, when I remember that I wanted to ask him about the female faerie pendant that Dr Who's group had discovered.

But how to do this without further annoying the Captain? After all, while I believe he will be excused for some lapse in diplomatic courtesies due to concerns for family, only so much will be tolerated by him I feel. However, there is the fact that this business with Uhura and what my husband told me about what he had learned from the dragonmages about the female faerie pendant. If a suspicion that he shared with me is true, then it could....maybe....have some relativity with this matter!

"Pardon me, your Grace," I say to Duke Drederick, "But before I continue.....have you any word on that female faerie pendant that Dr. Who's group had discovered? Was the thought that perhaps the Oracle was somehow involved with that business?"

The bridge grows a little quieter at that one from two corners at least. One corner is Uhura D'Honaire, who (while urban about magic) has a great.....respect for the Faire Folke. She has yet to get used to the idea of having an analog brother (the pixie known as Triakoth) and two analog sisters (the High Elf named Lueoth and the pixie known as Ama'lis)...but dopplegangers being dopplegangers as they are, she'll get to liking them well enough......since she's taken a shine to Joan. Yes, I don't know if it usual for analogs who meet each other (like in a magical enviroment) to actually instantly love each other like kin instead of hating each other....but it appears that the D'Honaire/Thessamer/Joan clan is rather lucky that way (except for a few rare instances). As for the other corner, Captain Kirk recognizes that name from one side discussion with Jarlath.

He waits patiently enough until the Duke tells of what little news that has come back from the group thus far. Seems that they had indeed been able to at least free the faerie woman from her silvery prison, but this had only been the start of things. Indeed, it turns out it seems that the Romana from Dr. Who's reality had come back from with some odd data from Omega....who'd gotten curious about a certain Hand of Omega from Dr. What's universe when he'd heard about it being used in a rather unorthodox manner. How he'd intercepted it in flight hadn't been revealed (though his friend Rassilon had helped.....I gathered).

....

Anyway, the data he'd gathered from it (right before returning it secretly) was.....rather odd and not something he could really understand.....being that it dealt with some kind of rare....magical substance. Super science does not, sometimes, lend well to dealing with examining magic....especially without a mage giving them a clue on just how to do it. Best place for something like that was Terra Prime. Romana was tapped by Rassilon to transport the data to there. The data was looked over by our mages, and we lucked out in being able to figure out what that substance was. It's something that we hadn't checked for in Uhura (and might be able to look for on that one planet). That seemed to be a rare Atlantian substance used in many of their transformational spells called....

"Pardon?", Kirk blurts out, interrupting, "Did you say just say Corbomite?"

The Duke, chuckles a little at that one. Seems that I'll find out later that at least he knows something about the history of Star Fleet in Kirk's era....

  1. He's familiar with that one bluff called the THE CORBOMITE MANEUVER, and thus is amused rather than annoyed at the interruption.
