Betty "...and it, uh, blew up Skaro," I finish as we approach our destination. It's weird. My "sister" and I hadn't really intended to relate all the gory details of the relevant episode, just the basic facts about the Dalek factions and such. But the Professor -- Elrondir's designation for him seems to have stuck, much to his chagrin -- has this strange way of looking at you that somehow just makes you want to keep on telling him things. I'd like to think it was some sort of weird telepahtic ability, but, frankly, I think it's just sheer force of personality. "I see," he says. I can't tell if he's disturbed by hearing that he's going to be (was? would have been?) responsible for blowing up a planet or not. Ace looks really impressed, though. "Is this it?" says Inquirer, and I look up and see that, sure enough, we're standing in front of a funeral home. The Professor gives her a funny look. Well, actually, all the looks he gives her are kind of funny... in both senses of the word, really. I'm not sure he knows what to make of her, and, I gotta admit, I do find it kind of amusing. "Yes," he says, in that deceptively distracted-sounding way of his. "And you just left this thing here?" says Ace. "All that time ago?" "Not that long," he says. He pulls out his pocket watch, opens it and peers at it briefly. "A matter of months, at most." "Or centuries," says our Doctor, "depending on how you look at it." "Yes," says the Professor. "Quite." "All right," says my red-headed analog. "So, we go in and make the arrangements for the 'funeral,' but before we do the actual burying, we do what needs doing with the necklace using the Hand. Right?"
