Stacy couldn't even manage a scream, she felt immobilized, paralyzed,
lobotomized (or atleast that's what she was afraid was going to happen to
her within the next few moments!). The woman lurched again, her gait
twisting and lunging, each step nearly a fall, yet a fall that was
bringing her closer and closer to Stacy. Stacy wanted to run, to flee,
but her legs would not cooperate, they simply trembled as the thing that
was once a woman reached out and embraced her. Stacy felt the cold flesh
of the arms through her light summer dress. She felt the broken lips of
the monster kiss her cheek, and then her forehead. Stacy felt the pain as
the undead thing's teeth sank into her skin and bone, and yet there was
almost a soothing release as the blood poured down her face. Within
moments Stacy was dead.
The thing then did a most curious act, it pulled Stacy's dress off, her shoes as well. Then it bundled them under the crook of its arm and shambled back down the shadowed hallway. Although Stacy never noticed, there were faint sparks of light escaping through the half destroyed face of the creature. Though she did not, there were others who did. "Good job, McNabb!" "Here, here!" "Congratulations to our newest Dr. Frankenstein!" "That's Frankenstien to you, buddy!" laughed the man who was receiving the praise. "Shut your traps, all of you," quipped the man in the white overcoat standing closest to the video monitor. "This is only the beginning, and a hell of a lot can go wrong... don't forget what happened in Beaverton, or Newcastle for that matter." Bob "Frankenstein" McNabb looked up at the man everyone simply called the 'Doctor.' "But it was a successful test." "A 'test' and nothing more. One of many to come. You all saw Suzy's face malform, you saw where even electrical sparks were emanating from the chip. If it ever becomes dislodged or the connection damaged, we lose all control. We must be very careful or Project Lazarus will come to an abrupt end." "Atleast we gave the local police a head's up," said Cory. "Hahaha!" laughed Adrian. "Head's up! Damn, I didn't know you had a sense of humor!" "They should look at this as a rape with bizarre sexual overtones," said Marina without any hint of humor. "But we better hope the folks in the FBI don't come snooping." "Hell, Mari," retorted Mack. "You're as paranoid as the folks in those Fox t.v. melodramas. Relax... take it easy. We gonna collect lil' old Suzy and then we be gone. No traces, no clues. Simply some dame dead on a floor with her clothes missing--" "And a little bit o' her brain to boot!" finished Tito. "Well," said the Doctor. "As our Mr. Flattery has said, let us gather our things, including Suzy." And with that this odd grouping of scientists left that deserted area of the subway. The equipment was taken, the undead woman named 'Suzy' was crated as well, and -to make things look extra normal- they even added a new layer of dust to the room which they had occupied. Normal, everything was normal. "Normal!!!!" yelled police seargent Elaine Frenton. "You call a corpse straight out of a Romero flick 'normal'!??!" "Well, uh.... I meant... that is..." ~~damn! thought officer Abbott. ~~and the day had been going so well, until now...~~
