The Never Ending Quest - Episode 19436

Realizing they needed female help, the guards - led by a young, newly promoted lieutenant - marched over to the nearest convent, which was conveniently (or was that convently?) located nearby.
Even more conveniently, the door was answered by the Mother Superior herself. Or maybe that was not so convenient - the lady was old and rather deaf.

"The Lord helps those who help themselves!" she declared to the men standing outside. "But if neither is sufficient, this servant of His is willing to give it a try. How may I help you, gentlemen?"

The lieuenant, a bit taken aback by this barrage of words, hesitated a moment. "We are looking for a dog," he explained.

The old lady nodded and smiled. "You are looking for God," she concluded.

"No no, a dog!"

  1. Finally the misunderstandings get cleared up, and the lieutenant continues his explanation.
  2. Deciding to go with the flow, the lieutenant figures he might as well be looking for God. The Lord probably has better hearing than this old grimalkin.
  3. The old lady shakes her head. "No dogs here!" she declares and slams the door shut.
  4. She sighs. "So he belongs to someone after all. I told them it wouldn't work." She turns and shouts down the hall behind her: "Bring him out, sisters! It's no use hiding!"
  5. She looks curiously at him "God is a dog now?"
