The Never Ending Quest - Episode 19279

Somewhere in the Shreken mountains, not more than a day south of Mudspot,
the entrance down to Chucky's home still stood open. The roar of Flucky's
flying machine had dwindled into silence and a new sound had taken its
place down below. The sound was that of Chucky
humming. The gnome was busy sweeping and cleaning, after all, his grand
re-entrance was accompanied by the crashing of glass, wood
and stone. Then the humming stopped.
"What is that smell?" said Chucky to himself. He had been going through his back rooms when the queerest scent smacked him in the nostrils. "Aigh! Smells like something crawled in my hole and died!" He continued his rummaging trying to figure out where it was coming from. Had he left his icebox ajar? Did his pets fail to find any food? He had to find out. Even as he was turning a corner he saw a large load of... crap. It was greenish in color. "Oh... crap," said the little being. Then he turned around. Then he saw the thing that excreted the load that made the smell. "DUH,WHO BE YOU? WHY YOU BE IN, DUH, NEW HOME MINE?" It was a rock-troll! Mind you, these nine foot creatures were not known to be the most intelligent. The rock-troll was not only intellectually challenged but he was also single-minded, that is, there were only a few things that made sense to such a small brain as his: food, shelter, and crap. For food they ate rocks, and anything that looked like rocks or tasted like rocks (including the bones of little men that walked on two legs). Besides the fear that tingled at his outermost edges, Chucky's strongest emotion was curiosity. How many rocks could a rock-troll chew if a rock- troll would chew rocks? What kind of dentation do the creatures have... grinders and molers surely, but incisors? If rocks are brown and beige and red, why is their excrement green? But the little gnome's thoughts were broken as the huge troll burped and took one step closer to what was probably going to be... his... next... meal!
