From out of the Nelon

Time. In the rush of madness, time has no meaning. Days ago Velus had left Lord Fred and the Black Hand within a march of Absollom - Velus did not know how that venture had turned out. Was Fred, even now, in the hands of Zular? Velus hoped not. He spat upon the ground wishing he could forget all the horror he witnessed, all the death. But forgetfullness was not given to him. He staggered from one tree to the next, afraid that he would hear that wild outlandish cry, the cry of near- human beasts. He could not quit the memory of Astra, evil etched upon her face. What was real? What was nightmare? Velus stumbled one more time and found himself sprawled on a pad of pebbles.

He looked up and saw, about fifty feet away a road... but nearer still was a structure, what appeared to be an inn. The entrance path was strewn with gravel. Though Velus - a Valesman from the east- did not know it, the inn had no name... the travelers of this area all knew it for what it was. It was tall, three stories and painted stark black! The upper two floors had no windows, but the lower floor had many. Outside the inn were many wagons and horses. A gray horse whinnied in worry. He could hear the sounds of revelry coming from within...

Meanwhile Bert continued his ride to Caemlyn, he still had days before he would reach it...

Meanwhile a courier of Duke Zular sped like the devil to Caemlyn with the news that Men of Trescent had been attacked by rebel forces; the man did not know that spies of the LiegeKing had already sent pigeons before him...
