Velus runs away

The Never Ending Quest - Episode 19000

Velus, so scared by his future self, runs away.
That was when everything shifted. Velus wasn't supposed to run away. In doing so, time has gone completely upside down.
Now...horrible creatures roam the land. Towns are either shuttered, decimated or just havens for bandits. Underground temples now have their entrances under different shrubs, rocks or islands. Everything is slightly off!
Three weeks pass. Velus is wandering the land, a lone hero. He can do things many cannot. Last week, he sniffed out a lost child. The day before that, he led a starving family to their neighbor's buried fruit cellar.
Currenly, Velus is...

  1. gaurding a confused child from some daring rats.
  2. sleeping in the lap of a wandering hero.
  3. running from a very slow zombie.
  4. being picked up by Fred. Fred plans to take him to a locus of magical power, so reality can be restored. Will Velus survive it?
  5. peeing on a fire hydrant. (?? A fire hydrant in medevial times?)
  6. being petted by his human mother, who doesn't know who he is.
  7. falling in love. aww.
