Time Traveler Redux

"Don't let Exotica free!" he cried. "Don't let her free! Oh god!" And with those words the Velus from five minutes in the future died.

"Oh my GOD!!!!" screamed the Velus of the present. "That's ME!!!!!" And he screamed and screamed and screamed and screamed and screamed.

Unfortunately, Fred only heard barks and howls and more barks. Velus was, after all, a teenager in the form of a tiny dog whose only human communication was a series of 'yes' and 'no' barks.

"Wow," said Fred. "That dead dog sorta kinda looks like Velus."

"No it doesn't," said the Princess. "Can you release me now?"

2 minutes : 51 seconds

"Wow," said Fred. "This chain is just as tough as the other one! And Velus still won't stop barking!"

"Ignore the pest," said the Princess. "Keep trying to release me!"

3 minutes : 19 seconds

"Maybe I should just leave and find that dragon, after all."

"No," said the Princess. "Do you have any idea what it feels like to be chained up here with no clothes and no dignity?"

"Well, uh.... not really, I'm mean after all, it's not like I'd get myself in a position where--"

"Shut up and keep whacking this chain!"

Meanwhile Velus kept on barking - of course he was really screaming for dear life: "Don't do it!!! Idiot! My future self said this was a BAD idea!!!! I mean REALLY bad! Let's leave, c'mon.... forget the nudey and let's go somewhere else!"

4 minutes : 59 seconds

"I think I almost got--" said Fred.

"It's about--" complained the Princess.

"I really, really don't like--" growled Velus.

10 minutes : 47 seconds ago

The beast that was the Dragon sensed the intruder. The creature lifted one of its immense violet eyelids and a spiral of energy flitted forward and out. The fact that one of the eight nude women caring for it was suddenly electrocuted hardly registered itself on its immense yet captivated awareness. Thoughts flickered, ideas burned, senses kindled; the beast that was the Dragon was perplexed and irritated. It spit out an emerald ball of flame from its great gaping mouth.

NOW

That burst of emerald flame coursed its way down one particular corridor and found the intruders.

"...I almost got--" "...it's about--" "...don't like--"

Time, space, matter, antimatter... protons, ions, neutrons... earth, metal, flesh, fire... not a good combination, at least not from Velus' point of view.

Velus was charred, his face was twisted, and even one eye was pulled from its socket and sent into an ether dimension! Though his eye was sent to goodness only knows where, the rest of his mutilated body was sent back through time, back five minutes, back to the same place. He saw Fred, he saw the woman whom he figured was the cause of all this, he saw himself. "Don't let Exotica free!" he cried. "Don't let her free! Oh god!" and with that poor Velus expired.

Princess Exotica, however, had died even faster than Velus! Being chained, unable to move and naked, did nothing for her. Her burned corpse hung from the wall like a Barbie in the hands of Drew Barrymore as the FireStarter!

Fred, however, was still alive. Scared out of his wits... but alive. That bizarre form of energy had picked him up, burned him like the dickens and sent him into the future. Not only was he in a different time, he was in a different place!

1. We find Fred five minutes in the future back at the two entrances of the Southern Caves...
2. We find Fred twenty minutes in the future deeper within the bowels of the Southern Caves...
3. We find Fred twentyfive hours, sixteen minutes into the future at some unknown area....
4. We find Fred two years in the future outside of the Keep of Croix...
5. ...and what about Velus' eye?
