Two Princesses and a Goblin

"We are going to need some weapons, unless Fred and Velus get to the dragon first and succeed in killing it," Astra pointed out, unaware of their sad demise. Exotica nodded her agreement.

"I can help you there," the goblin said. "If we go via my dwelling, I have some weapons there. I'm afraid that I can't provide you with any clothing though. All my stuff would be far too small for you."

"Compared with weapons, that is a minor concern," Astra assured him. Exotica did not nod this time. It did not seem quite such a small thing to her as it apparently did to Astra.

They reached the goblin's heavy wooden door without incident, and he unlocked it and ushered them in. Inside were several surprisingly well-furnished chambers carved out of the rock.

The goblin led them into a storeroom where a number of weapons were to be found. The weapons were intended to be used by a goblin. Since goblins are around four foot tall, whilst Astra was about six foot and Exotica about five foot nine inches, the weapons would be a little on the small size for the princesses. Astra selected the longest of the available swords, which would make an effective short sword for her. Exotica chose a spear which was tipped with silver; it was rumoured that the dragon had werecreatures working for him, and silver should be deadly against them. The goblin was armed with a battleaxe and had a dagger at his belt.

They left the goblin's abode, and headed in what they believed was the direction of the dragon's lair.

1. They reach the dragon's lair without any trouble. In fact it's been suspiciously easy.
2. They encounter the ghosts of Fred and Velus.
3. They become enmeshed in the webs of a giant spider.
4. They come to a ravine through which a raging river runs. A rickety rope bridge leads to the far side.
