A Game of "Hide & Seek" of The Deadly Type

The Never Ending Quest - Episode 18831

They have only a minute or two to decide whether to try the sedative darts first or to use the tasers.

"Given the quality and such of the armor," Astra the Djinn sighed, "I am not sure whether or not those darts will be effective."

Indeed, some of the Champions had questions on whether or not the sedatives would actually work on the dragon-women. All that was certain was that the dragon woman would not have an adverse reaction to the sedatives. That Slith (after he'd recovered enough from that taser trail run) had been able to impart to them. He wasn't sure exactly how he knew, but like Roland.....he knew.

"Well, then let's do a three prong approach," Astra 9 says decisively, "The magic users will cast a spell of silence on Frozh, so she could neither call out an alert on her attackers or the sounds of her body falling (if luck is with us) won't register to any nearby lieutenants. Joan, being the best shot with the dartgun, will hit Frozh with a sedative dart while I shall hit her with a taser jolt."

After that.....

A minute later....

Frozh was awaiting for her lieutenant she'd sent down the left passage way to return first (still some time off from then), when she spins to hear.....arcane murmuring behind her....and the world first went quiet. Then a dart hit her in the base of her throat, at a point not covered by her magnificant armor, but due to her lovely reptillian hide, the dart failed to penetrate, but it was a close run thing (should have been done at a closer range). Her nostril's register briefly the short time she had left, a powerful drug upon it's tip! Opening her mouth in a futile shout of alarm and turning to beckon for assistance (there were more arrayed against her than she'd anticipated, obviously). Another dart like thing (this one with some kind of silvery wire attached to its end) flies forth from above her (allowing her to see where her attackers are at), and.....

Sharp pain!

Smell of ozone.

Fading....

As she fades out, she can only think how....easily this dragon slayer and his friends (if that's who they were) had gotten a drop on her. Neatly done, actually. Insanely enough, she felt admiration for her attackers, for it was neatly done indeed. At least, in her heart, she'd know that the holy Dragon would look kindly upon her folly....and hopefully forgive her of it when her spirit visited him soon. Oh, but she hoped her troops would have better luck than she.....

Indeed, she expected to die. Why else would her attackers be....attacking.....

Blackness.

"Float her body up her and let's be away," Jarlath whispers softly to Andrea, who nods. Jarlath mutters a spell of his own and magically lifts up the sword that had slipped from Frozh grasp (and Andrea had overlooked in her levitation spell).

Less clues left behind the better. Would do to perhaps magically smooth out the area of the point in the cavern sand floor where Frozh's body had lain, but they were in a rush.

They had a dragon to kill and a man to rescue....

Thus is the reason the dragon-women find only a few broken scales on the ground....and a nothing else except.....a drug covered dart (with a trace of human sent on it).

Hissing in fury, the dragon-women widen their search pattern, hoping to snare the one who'd somehow abducted (and perhaps slain somewhere....though a body wasn't in evidence) their leader.

  1. It was now a game of hide-and-seek. A deadly version of the game!
