Fred and Mirya wake up the next morning, filled with spunk and
energy. They even look more youthful - Fred now looks to be in his
early twenties, and Mirya in her late teens. They're the happy go lucky
Shoggoth Brigade, out to cleanse the world of impurity. Velus is the
very picture of a happy sidekick, shoggoth's best friend if you will,
resting contentedly by the shoggoth flame after being fed well roasted
bits of goat liver. "Ah, I feel so much better!" Mirya said. "Let's go kill the Dragon, Fred! Wouldn' t that be so much fun?" "I dunno." Fred said, taking a sip of brandy. "Minestus has great powers - even with the two of us combined... and Velus mutated into a Greater werewolf... it would be hard. Discretion is the better part of valor, I say. Let's prowl around these caves yet longer, gaining information on Minestus's weaknesses." "Like when he sleeps?" Mirya laughed. "Yes... we can hire the Dark Hobbits of the inner caves... they can find out anything." Fred wrinkled his nose. "Hobbits are untrustworthy. They would sell us out to Minestus. I say we venture into the Dark Domains of the dreaded Lich King, and slay him to gain his grimoire." "But that's almost as dangerous as Minestus!" Mirya gasped. "Do we have enough power? And yet... it is rumored that it is an ancient grimoire... filled with spells from the ancient times, when magic flowed like a fountain - as it will again in the world when we have reshaped it!" Fred grinned. "Leave everything to me." Suddenly, a Disciple of Shoggoth burst into the room. It was a combat sentry, entirely shrouded in dark robes. "Lady Mirya! Lord Fred!" he shouted in dismay. "How dare you interrupt us!" Mirya hissed, rising from the bed. "I'll have your inestines wrung through a meatgrinder before I start to make you die, you lowly worm!" "Lady Mirya!" the guard simpered. "The lizardmen... they've broken through the west perimeter! All sentries but me have died!" "I see..." Mirya said. She lowered her head in thought, then suddenly decapitated the sentry with a swift hand chop. The astonished being didn't even have time to make a sound before his body fell lifeless to the floor. "Fred, it's come to direct war." she said, turning around impassionately. "The lizardmen serve Minestus... surely this means he knows of our presence..." "Oh well." said Fred, admiring his sword. "About time we saw some action."
