The swamps ended about a hundred yards from an old, abandoned church. The
well-built stone building was perched on a small rise and looked out over
many farms and collections of buildings. But considering the unsavory reputation the place had, they decided to make camp in the church. But first, to search it. They were very lucky. Maybe the god of the church had some reality behind it. Astra found some musty nun vestments that would serve her for when they explored the nearest town tommorow. Fred found some bread in a cold, attic room. A bit moldy but his Grandma Moses always said that mold put hair on your chest. Fred once asked if Grandma had any hair on her chest and he got five days of extra chores. Astra also found two morningstars locked up in a cabinet. (The key had been under a nearby flowerpot, as many people did so). Weapons were fun. And also, the poor box had ten gold pieces. Before bedding down, Fred stopped at the church's altar to thank the thorned diety that was once worshipped here. Not that Fred belived but it never hurt to be safe. And he was grateful, be it luck or thorns. Despite his good fortune, Fred dreamnt badly that night. His dreams were...
