Hannah slept through most of the magic carpet ride to Melma's cottage. Her property appeared to be far less grand than Belboz's--a network of tunnels carved into a mountain beats a cottage in the woods any day. But Melma had a very strategic location that she'd chosen very carefully--near many rare types of magical herbs, a colony of sprites whose magic was easy to siphon off, and even an abandoned and incomplete dwarf mine where she often practiced spells and even sometimes found a gem or two. It was also just right in that it was very peaceful and secluded, but the flight to the nearest village to buy their wares was very easy. Hannah did not wake up when they landed, so he gathered her into his arms, carried her to the front door, and knocked. Melma answered after a few moments. She appeared younger than Belboz by about twenty years. She looked at the child, and back up to Belboz. And said,
