Royal Bones

She had gotten as far as the center of the compound when suddenly her legs stopped working. Caught by her own momentum, she pitched forward, sprawling into the sand, completely paralyzed.

Behind her, she heard Crucius approach and kneel down beside her. She wanted to run, to scream, to lash out, but all she could do was lie helplessly in the sand. Slowly, the evil necromancer leaned over her and began whispering something in her ear. She didn't understand it, but it made her skin crawl.

Literally.

Still chanting, Crucius smiled cruelly as Frederica's body shriveled and withered, her skin growing drier and more brittle as it stretched across her increasingly empty frame. Finally, with a sound like leather tearing, the skin vanished all together, leaving only a skeleton, gleaming white in the sun, encased in a pink silk gown.

Satisfied at the results of his curse, Crucius stood again, his smile one of evil triumph. "Attend me, my Brides!" he cried.

At first, nothing happened. Then, slowly, Frederica's skeleton began to stir. Jerkily at first, like a puppet on a string, but with increasing eas, it stood and walked to kneel before Crucius. Moments later, the two skeletons that the Princess had discovered earlier exited their hut and kneeled as well.

"At last," he exclaimed as the skeletons knelt before him silently, "My plan has come to fruition! I now take the Three Brides Who Are Dead Yet Live, and they shall be my instruments of power! With their aid, I shall gain at last the power:"

1. "The power to once and for all bring the Kingdom of Allaria under my heel!"
2. "The power to control all minds on Earth!"
3. "The power to ceate an undead army the likes of which the world has never seen!"
4. "The power to open the gates of darkness and rule all of creation!"
