Stacy Calls the Police

Stacy decided that Ted was probably not an alien - if he was, then he must
be a brilliant
actor. But she didn't have time to give him any explanations now, since
one or other of the aliens
might regain consciousness at any time.
"Sorry for not recognising you, Ted," she said. "I'm suffering from amnesia. Let me call the police, and then I'll explain more fully." She dialled 911, thankful that her amnesia only extended to details of her own life and not to more general information. When she was connected to the police, she said: "I'd like to report an assault." (She had decided to come up with something plausible to get the police to the scene. Once they saw the octopods, she should have no problem in getting them to believe the true story.) She turned back to Ted. "What's this building's address?" she asked. Ted told her, and she relayed the information: "I'm at Room 115, at 125 West 71st Street. There are two unconscious people on the floor here." That was true, depending on your definition of "people". "No, I don't think their lives are in danger," she said in response to a question. "Yes, I'll wait here till your people get here. No, I don't think an ambulance will be necessary." She put the phone down. "There'll be here shortly," she told Ted. "Help me to keep an eye on these two beauties, and hit them with something if they show any signs of coming round." While they waited, Stacy began giving Ted the fuller explanation she had promised him.
