Meanwhile, Back on Krynn (One of Them)....

The Never Ending Quest - Episode 18336

Well, Slith and Kang were having an argument with this odd dragon....

"But your draconians!" the still dazed dragon protests.

Kang, recently retired Commander and now Governor of the Nation of Teyr, suppresses a sigh as he glances over at Slith, who isn't bothering hiding his annoyance.

They'd heard that protest a lot from folks about, when the Draconians came to lend aid here and there....

"Indeed," Kang rejoins, "And though your scales are now bronze, by your body configuration you are a green dragon. If you believe that draconians didn't give you aid in your hour of need....That my kind can not reform their ways, then you might as well apply that to yourself?"

There is no heat in it. Given the past actions of other Draconians in the name of the Pretender (the new, official name for the Dark Queen), Kang and the others of the First Dragonarmy Engineers well understood why other non-Draconians

Indeed, Slith had said that over the months since meeting Queen Astra he and other who'd gone about on scouting forays by wing (....flight....blessed flight!.....Kang so wished he could take to the skies in his new dragon form more instead of supervising the creation of an "industrial base" here) to surrounding areas that they'd encountered some draconians that had been....

It had left a bad taste in Kang's mouth what those other dracos had been about to do, and it had pleased him to no ends that the mere sight of Slith and the others of small expeditionary patrol had sent them screaming for the hills. Seems that much had indeed changed since that day everything had changed for Kang and his crew. It seemed that upon everything else, a form of "dragon fear" had indeed come about inside each and every altered draconian (while in dragon form, that is). It and a few dozen spell bolts (coupled with a few "high tech" recoilless rifle rounds), had taken care of that scum. Yes, much had changed and Kang never would have thought he'd be happy to see fellow Draconians dead, but....things change.

Yes, much had changed. Kang, a Bozak, still wasn't sure exactly what to make of it all. Bozaks were traditionally the most spiritual of the draconians and were the only ones (besides Auraks) able to use magic. Now?

Things had changed. Now even each and every last one of the dracos that had been under his command could sling a spell.....and had the brains to use it effectively. Yes, after decades of living with the fact that the Baaz weren't what you'd call as intelligent as other Draconian types, it was.....diconserting in a way. This included even the Baaz, the least powerful (but most common) kind of Draconian. Other Bozaks than Kang and those who'd worked along side him would be fearful at retribution from the Baaz for past wrongs, but that wasn't a problem here. Not after he'd earned their respect by his leadership. Not after, according to them (much to his disconcertment), having earned their respect and loyalty because he (Kang ) had actually cared. Most especially, not after everything that had happened so recently.

Yes, much had changed....enough for Kang and the other Draconians to come to this rather odd encounter. After the villagers recovered enough of their wits (and putting out the remaining fires Slith's group hadn't already extinguished), they'd thanked their mysterious benefactors...only to faced with Slith and the others....

"But....you're Draconians!" the village mayor (a human) had protested, shocked as badly as half of the surviving villagers had been.

The other half (dazed newcomers) had looked blankly at their neighbors and asked what a "draconian" was, and what the problem was. Turned out that these newcomers had come from a parallel Krynn which had not experienced it's first before the first War of the Lance (and thus hadn't been introduced to Draconians).

"That had been interesting," Slith had added, rolling his eyes after informing Kang of that one, "Should have thought of that being possible, what with Queen Astra telling us about other Krynn real estate and people showing up here and now, but all the same....."

Well, after calming down the panicky villagers, Slith and the others managed to open up a foothold with the still suspicious townfolk (still wondering where the @#$% the lord of their land was) to where some kind of trade agreement.

  1. Somehow, word got around to a small, ragtag group of good (metallic) dragaon, and that is where things got really hairy....for them!
