Since Fred knew everything that Uhura knew, she knew when and where she
was. She had
been transported not
just an immense distance but also some 1500 years into the future. It was
frightening
to think that there had been something in the Southern Caverns with enough
power to
do something like that. If she was now in Uhura's body, did that mean that
Uhura was
now in Fred's old body? If so, it might be thought that Uhura had had the
worst of the
exchange; the Enterprise was arguably safer, and certainly much more
pleasant, than
the dank and dark Southern Caverns. But for all that, Fred's sense of duty
told her that
she ought to return to her original quest. The problem was, of course,
that she had not
the faintest idea of how to do that.
