"It's not magical," Fred states simply to the side, his arms crossed and is tail twitching as he leans against the hull of the ship. "You and Carrandene were practically ready to tear out your own fur in frustration. I once played a mean trick on Charles....before he went on his wild quest that ultimately consumed him and a good portion of the lab he was working in. I told him to examine a sword and find it's magical property."
"I remember that!" Willian says, snapping his finger. "It turned out that you switched the real magic sword of the Keep for a mundane look alike. What should have been a simple operation turned into a major fiasco for him."
"And the same thing happened here with our worldly mages," Fred said with an air of quiet fascination. "It's the only thing that makes sense. Even the subtlest of magics would have been uncovered by now, and the effects those items.....Enemy and Golem......are NOT sublte."
"Exactly." says the werebear quietely, feeling his face burn in embarrassment. "Something magical will leave magical residues of a singular nature. Very hard to miss! But, that's not the case here. I get the same damn results from magical tests as I did on the Golem and Lizard items."
"But...but," Alicia sputters. "How could what happened to my land been anything but by magic?! Does this mean that WE could do something like this, Lord forbid?"
"Conceivably," says Synizn. "It could be done. However, I am at a loss at how something......how most of what they did could be DONE! But it does open up some.....fascinating doors."
Fred and the others look at him in askance.
