The Mysterious Singer

"I wouldn't have thought so," Fred replied. "Somehow I wouldn't have expected her singing voice to be as high and 'floating' as that. It doesn't sound like my idea of an amazon warrior's singing voice. Besides, unless she's totally lost her mind, why should she be singing? Anyway, there's only one way to find out. I'm going to risk lighting my torch."

The flickering light of the torch revealed that they stood on the floor of an enormous cavern. Some twenty yards ahead of them stood the singer, swaying slightly from side to side in time with the rhythm of her song.

1. It was a woman that neither of them recognised.
2. It was Astra after all. She did not react to the light or to their presence, but continued to sing, as if hypnotised.
3. It wasn't Astra, but Fred and/or Jarlath recognised the woman.
4. It was the dragon! Apparently a dragon's singing voice sounds very like a beautiful female human voice.
