Oh, but could we please get on with life.....

The Never Ending Quest - Episode 17742

The Voyager rattles and shakes as the Voyager shoots around the sun that the Guardian of Forever orbits.

"Well, if nothing else," Scott quips as he stands at his station down in Engineering. "We'll all get a good suntan!"

This releases a nervous, but much needed laugh from the surrounding Engineering department. Tension was so thick around there that Scott could almost smell the fear in the air. That lame line from the Mad magazine parody of Star Trek: The Voyage Home was just the tension breaker that was needed. Scott squeezes his wife's hand, and then the universe goes hazy as the Voyager blinks out of this universe.....to somewhere else.

************************************

Furry Ensign Wildman moans, mutters something incoherent, and picks herself off the panel that she found herself on. Her mouth tastes like something vile had crawled up in there and died! Also, she had the strangest dream of cheese!

She blinks as she sees that her husband is snoring soundly (along with everyone else down in Engineering). Samantha shakes him.....

"Another five minutes, Mommy." mutters Scott, eyes still closed. Samantha sighs. Scott always was so hard to wake up in the morning. She gently slaps Scott until he wakes up. Scott snorts and finally comes fully awake....as well as the rest of the Voyager's crew.

Instruments are checked, subspace communications are checked, and the date and time stamp from several distant buoys are examined.

Three things are discovered. First, the Voyager IS in the Alpha Quadrant (the Badlands....of all places). Second, according to the day/time stamps of several nav buoys, the Voyager is back a few days BEFORE the fateful with Scott and the totally Borged out Seven of Nine. Third, and most happily, is hat the Dominion War that flared up between the Federation and Dominion forces is winding down and....drum roll please.....the Federation is winning!

Latter, down in the Ready Room....

"So, by all accounts, we are in YOUR universe...." vixen Janeway says to her human counterpart. "While we could maybe get in contact with ourselves out in the Delta Quadrant.....I frankly don't want to deal with the paradoxes that would create....and the possible fallout from THAT......No, there will be no contact with them. What's happened HERE is enough to get the attention of the Temporal Agency! I don't wish to add fuel to the fire."

That announcement is greeted with emphatic agreement and nods. Nobody at the table wanted a visit from the goons from the Temporal Agency.....Things were going to be difficult as they were.

"In that same vein," vixen Janeway continues. "The furry part of the Voyager will have no way getting home in a couple days....with the events that will unfold out in the Delta Quadrant. Our Scott still has no Chaos energy....despite all the anomalous encounters we have had.....and besides that....our dimension hopper is still.....toast."

The Bridgecrew glance at each other, and then at horse Chakotay. The furry nods and stands solemly.

"Captain, I've found that almost to a crewmember.....we are quiet $#%#%# tired of jumping around universes!" he says, and the furry Bridgecrew members nod in agreement. "While we may have not gotten back to 'our' Alpha Quadrant and 'our' Federation and 'our' Star Fleet.....we'drather lay down stakes here.

"When we asked the Guardian whether or not we furries could bet back to our home universe AFTER this trip around the sun....the Guardian nearly had a nervous breakdown." sighs human Chakotay. "Meaning.....we're lucky that we got HERE in one piece....and maybe......"

"Not risk tearing the universe apart on a slim chance of getting home," the vixen finishes, not having expecting anything different.

"Well then, let's get in contact with Star Fleet." vixen Janeway says. "They'd probably just love to hear from us!"

  1. Meanwhile, a war weary Captain Sisko is in his office.....
