Scott suffers a nervous shutdown.

The Never Ending Quest - Episode 17668

Four of Nine's connection to the Collective flickers, and Scott gains enough control to activate a shutdown feature that he knows will defeat the schemes of Seven of Nine....at least as far as any information he can provide the Collective! He activates the switch....and in addition to enjoying the racking pains that course through his body as he begins to die....he hears Seven start screaming in what sounds remarkably like full bore terror. Scott falls to his knees and conciousness fades mercifully.

Scott wakes up latter, feeling like what a person would feel after calling Mike Tyson a pansy! Scott groans, wishing that his head would explode and be done with it!

"Oh good, you're awake!" a bald man says, holding a medical tricorder. Scott knows it is the Doctor, the holographic medic from Voyager. That would explain why you're still alive. Scott groans and then glares up at the doctor.

"So, Doctor." Scott hisses. "I guess I owe you my life....But I'd think even such a sophisticated holographice being such as yourself would know enough to give a man with a headache the size of Detriot....an asprin or whatever!"

The Doctor blinks, and then frowns, looking insulted. He sulks and administers a shot, and the pain fades to a dull ache.

"Doctor, has the drone awoken yet?" a very familiar female voice says behind the Doctor. Scott yells and scrambles to the opposite side of the room, and grabs a chair!

"Keep that B#$ch away from me!" Scott screams, bandishing the chair. "I will NOT be assimulated AGAIN!"

Seven and the Doctor look at Scott like he's lost his mind. Scott lowers his chair in confusion when he sees that this Seven of Nine is dressed in the familiar silvery jumpsuit that the younger male know and love (and I don't find too hard on the eyes, to be honest).

"Oh, you mean the other Borge unit?" Seven asks suddenly, making the connection.

"Nooooo. I mean the other Seven of Nine....before....you know!" Scott says, waving at Seven's jumpsuite.

Both Seven and the Doctor glance at each other, eyebrows (well, eyebrow and whatever that metallic thing that covers her other eyebrow) raised.

"This other...Seven?" the Doctor says slowly. "Was she....malfunctioning before she had assimulated you?"

"Not that I know of, except for being her old arrogant.....self." Scott says, embarrassed. "No offense."

Seven of Nine, the human one, looks a little put off by Scott, but listens calmly as Scott explains what happened. She looks at Scott then.....

"So you say that you suffered a....hiccup in your connection to the Collective?" Seven asks. "And my....analog started screaming before you passed out?"

"Yes, in a nutshell." Scott finishes. The Doctor takes an instrument, and starts waving it over Scotts head. Scott, annoyed, grabs the good Doctors hand. "What in the devil are you doing?"

"Playing a hunch about your memories." the Doctor says, pulling his hand out of Scott's grip. "From what little I can tell from....Scott's memory center's neural activity.....it's could act like a computer virus. What in the world have you experience?!"

"Wouldn't believe me if I told you." Scott says firmly. "Now, you say that this other Seven is malfunctioning. How so?"

"She keeps singing about how 'You deserve a break today....or something.'" the Doctor says, completing his scan and using extreme safeguards in viewing what he finds (being a computer generated being makes one distrust computer viruses). "That, and sometimes saying she's some type of fantasy creature....keeps varying what she shouts from one time to the next. She won't let anyone approach and runs if anyone tries to force the issue....she's....very hard to catch."

Seven looks at the readings, and looks scared and points at something.

"Please TELL me that it doesn't say THAT!" she says in a shaking voice. The Doctor looks, and drops the pad in shock.

"What?!" Scott nearly shouts. "What's the problem?"

"If we don't find this other Seven of Nine soon...." Seven says, gulping. "Soon, there will be nothing left....because of that....virus will start effecting the assimulation nanites in her. Changing her into.....something else!"

Scott stares at the Doctor and Seven for two seconds, and then shakes his head.

"Okay, what'll she change into?" Scott says calmly.

"With this thing with those nanites....could be anything!" the Doctor says, running over to a monitor. A tense conversation ensues between the Doctor, Seven, and Captain Janeway. Finally, they.......

  1. They find the other Seven, but she's now something else. (Remember all those creaturs she kept shouting out).
