The Doctor Begins to Explain

The Never Ending Quest - Episode 17441

Betty and Melissa sat down in a couple of velvet-upholstered armchairs in the TARDIS console room. The Doctor leaned against the console and regarded them thoughtfully. "Right," he began, "am I correct in assuming that one of you has had her morphogenic field altered recently?"

"Well," said Betty, "if you mean did I not look like this a couple of hours ago, the answer is yes."

"But what did you mean about being unimpressed?" put in Melissa.

"Well," said the Doctor, "it's a very crude form of morphogenic alteration. No sophistication at all, really. Still, I suppose it serves the purpose well enough."

"But what purpose?" cried Betty, "and whose purpose? Do you know who's responsible for doing this to me?"

"As a matter of fact, I do" the Time Lord replied. "Have you ever heard of someone called..."

  1. "...The Master?"
