The green alligators convey to Lord Fred that there was a secret passage
into the dragon's bedroom. It was in the swamps surrounding the upper
level of the gaurd's barracks. Fred wanted to question the existence of the swamps inside caves but he didn't want to annoy sentient alligators. Furthermore, the oldest continued, the passage is five hundred feet long and all underwater. A quiet alligator rumbled with stomach gas. Five hundred feet. Can Fred hold his breath for that long?
