The Never Ending Quest - Episode 169

Lord Fred stood in front of the cave entrance halfway up the mountain. Behind him, a chill wind ruffled the grass on the path and the branches that hung over it.

"This map is useless!" Fred hissed and jammed it back into his pack. "It shows one entrance, not these two ones."
Before Fred a passage went up. This was lined with dark, obsidian like rock. Next to it, a passage went down. The floor of this was the bed of a small stream that bubbled out a spring right at the entrance. The ground looked secure enough, and Fred's boots were the non-skid kind. So either passage was open to him. But which one would lead him to the dragon?
Slaying the foul beast had been his mission after all.
