The Never Ending Quest - Episode 16524

Fred wasn't sure what to believe at the moment, but he followed Belboz and Menifee through the Chamber and into a passageway. The trio was silent, each digesting what had just occurred. They each knew that before them lay trials, before them lay the Dragon. Yet some knew more than the others.

Menifee, or more accurately Miennfyglchtiee, stood wondering if being in the company of two humans wasn't going to bring him to the attention of Kho ti Nnfyg - the Being who Bears a Thousand Chances. Considering that Kho ti Nnfyg brought both helpful and harmful opportunities, and considering that his Race looked down on those who consorted with mere animals, well, Menifee was beginning to wonder if being here was such a good idea after all.

enter in, find the parniffal, retrieve it and run, that was my standing order. no problem, I said. get past the wiggle-scum, squeeze through the cracks of cecil, leave the dead things alone and hit the worm where it counts, yeah, no problem! but maybe with a little cannon fodder I can get past the Black Thing with an Appettite and get out of here with my hide. maybe!

Belboz, the man with a twisted history, stood wondering if being here with two inexperienced, non-magic wielding individuals was such a good thing. He had spent years within the caves; exploring, mapping, carving out his own niche. The outside world had shunned him long ago - this was his world now. Yet he had his problems here, too.

don't step on anyone's toes or claws, they said. yeah, right. hit the wierdos in the Fight Club but leave the witches alone; go fishing for some wiggle-scum but stay far away from the dead things. power, position, popularity will all come to you, phfah! now the Big D has to make changes that ruin my chances even as poor as they were. no more of this, regulate that, poof! there goes one's freedoms. of course, one just can't recall a blood-sucking, fire-breathing, hypno-gazing, tyrant-lizard! maybe with these two idiots I can distract him and get away with my dirty little business intact. hmmmmm....

Fred, Lord Frederigo D'Honaire that is, stood wondering what to believe. He was told the Dragon, the Beast that Ate Children, was a lone monster living within the Southern Caves. He was trained to kill such a crude and solitary creature. He was never informed that the Caves were home to other things, to magic men and trolls.

atleast, with their help my job will be easier. one for all and all for one, that's the ticket!

  1. the First Trial
  2. a hissing sound caught everyone's attention...
