Can Things get any Worse?

Elsewhere within this metal city three pairs of eyes were glued to a compuscreen.

"You realize that isn't possible," said the man in the white coat.

"But the information is direct from the DF-652 as translated via the interweb," remarked the woman in the green dress.

"Maybe we have a... well... you know, a... system error?" squirmed the older man who seemed on the verge of a stroke.

"A System Error?!!?" screamed the other two in shock and horror. "Why that's blasphemy..." "Heresy!" "Incompetency!!!" "Utterly out of the question!" "Unheard of..." "This IS the year 2318, after all...things like that just don't happen!"

"Well, uh..." began the older man with even less courage than just a moment before. "...it's just that... um, if the traffic-droid's sensors are... um, functioning correctly, well... you see... the consequences..."

"We know," said the woman in the green dress. "We've just identified our worst nightmare... a being who could unravel our society with the blink of an eye."

"Well actually," commented the man in the white coat. "Even if this person has the DNA sequence we think she does... which I still say is suspect... it wouldn't be the blink of her eyes, rather the spread of her microbes."

"I was being poetic, you doofus!" growled the woman in the green dress. "Now, let's get back to our problem. Have the vidcams in Sector Twenty-five scan for that woman. We've got to find her, bring her in, and find out what her game is... and quick!"

1. Electronic eyes, ears, and noses begin their scans and their continuous reports as well: "Unit 13, report status- re: DNA-Female-Unknown; not visible in grid 006, now checking grid 007."
2. "Oh, what should I do?" wondered Stacy to herself.
3. "Uh, Doctor," said Melissa a bit out of breath. "We've got a problem." "What is it now?" grumbled the Doctor. "Stacy is gone."
