After the Slide

The Never Ending Quest - Episode 16458

"Incredible!" cooed Sir Toby. "This rainbow, I can feel it.... in my head, vibrations that make my whole body tingle."

"Big deal," answered Fred. "I can taste it, just by looking at it!"

"This isn't right, you know," said Sir Toby. "This is even more strange than the musical zombies I battled before you showed up."

"Yeah, I bet there were a LOT of strange things going on before I showed up." Fred thought about that... he recalled his future self's poor prognosis of the loom of life and the wheel of destiny. Fred knew that he just had to keep himself a part of his world... or else his world would come to an end.

"Lord Fred," whispered Sir Toby. "Look to our left. Do you see what I see?"

Fred turned. "I see what you see only if you see a pink flamingo standing in a pond of blood next to a hostel that bears the name: Xander."

"Yup, that's what I see. You do know the significance of this?"

Fred paused and thought. "Uh, pink flamingos aren't as cute as folk think they are?"

"No! The Hostel Xander is a legendary house of accomodations from within the Hofstet Chronicles. Its the abode of wayfarers from around the Karpath."

"The Karpath?!?" said Fred a bit startled. "But that can't be... that would mean that we are in the legendary and lost village of Transylvania!!!"

"Right you are!" said a perky voice coming from behind the distressed duo. Upon turning (with swords drawn) the two knights from Allaria saw a man wearing purple pantalouns and a violet vest, his pale skin seemed to glint in the dismal light streaming into the area from only the gods knew where. "My name is Joe Ker, but most folks just call me 'bad'. But enough about me! Let's go drink some ale in yonder pub." And with that this man named Joe gently grabbed both knight's arms and walked them dociley into Xander; a house, a hotel, a brewery, and a place to be feared.

  1. Can our heroes still be under the Southern Mountains? Did the slide transport them to the far western mountains known as the Karpath? Just what is going on here?!!?
  2. Who exactly is Joe Ker and why is he so keen on having a good time with our troubled knights?
  3. What is the legend of this strange village and how did it become to be thought of as lost?
