Dropping in on the party?

The Never Ending Quest - Episode 16396

I mutter a curse that would have done me proud back when I was a man as we all get on the dragon mage's back and take off in the direction that Fred points.

Fred the Faerie Dragon

Washing away......

I'm washing away. My humanity slipping faster and faster away the more and more I try to hold onto it and something is replacing me with a new me.... The more I lose of the old and gain of the new....the less of the old do I miss and the more of the new I rejoice at. It's an odd, ghastly feeling made worse by the realization that, though through tricker, I had given up the only shield that I could use in defense of myself.....my old self....that is. I fee the beginning tickle of....things in my mind that speak of something new.....eldritch. Something that is both exciting and frightening. That said.....

.......

New or old.....whatever......as of right of this moment I'm scared and scared badly! The old part of me is scared for my life.....scared of death. The new.....fey...part of me knows something. Something not quiet clear as of yet, but still it is scared of what will happen if this......creature that is digging frantically. I feel like screaming for help...except....something tells me that I already am...in a fashion...and that several have heard....one quiet near even! In the meantime, this monster is still digging almost mindlessly, after my delicate....beautiful wings!

I freeze at the last....

"Beautiful wings?" I ask myself aloud in a high, hissing/squeaking voice that replaced the one I'd been born with.

There is a touch of hysteria in my voice....and something more. Something alien. The perpetual grin that my muzzle is graced with grows a bit wider almost against my will as a tickling.....delightful feeling courses through my being....despite the terror I still feel.

As I feel the last of the old me slip away (replaced by new knowledge and...a new me.....) as I shiver in this abandoned animal burrow I've hid myself in, I remember (finally) two things that I do know about the fey folk.....that seems to apply to faerie dragons as well. I am still I, but no longer human. I am fey...and the fey of my world are immortal. That and we have the oddest sense of humor.....that can find something funny even at the oddest of times!

Outside, Belinda is still digging frantically after what her stomach tells her what will feed her ravenous hunger when she hears a high pitched.....giggle?....coming from within the burrow. It's enough to cause her to pull back in surprise and confusion, but only for a few seconds as instincts cause her to resume.

She has a second's warning (her fey senses have much further to develop) before the largest black dragon she's even seen crashes through the jungle's roof and lands right in front of her. Unlike most people (including most warriors of her homeland), she at least had enough training in the way of dragon fighting to be able to NOT be bowed over in sheer terror by the fear that dragon's induce in others....naturally.

No, what causes her to blink in surprise and forget (for a moment), her need for sustenance is just one of those on the dragon's back!

  1. "Astra?!" she gasps in a voice that is deeper and huskier than normal for her.
