Talking reason to the dragon
The Never Ending Quest - Episode 162

Fred looked at the dragon who had been transformed from the beautiful
maiden,he was far from beautiful now.He wasnt sure exactly what he would
say but he new that everyone was depending on him to do something. He
knew that if he tried to kill the dragon right away the powerful beast
would surly kill him.He didnt have a chance in hell and he had to think
of something fast or the dragon might lose patience and burn him to a
crisp anyway.
"I have to think of a way to trick him" Fred whispered to him self softly
He looked down at his new friend the little dog and an idea came to him.
He cleared his throat nervously to get his friends attention.
"That is enough standing here doing nothing...."The evil dragon
bellowed "Are you going to attempt to slay me or do i kill you with no
sport at all? I would much rather have a chalenge for i grow very bored
living in this cave."
Fred brought his attention back to the menacing dragon and said "let the
little dog go and i will give you your fun."
The dragon seemed to consider this for a moment and finally said with a
terrifying leer "i care nothing for the dog anyway so i will let him
go..they are tough to eat and i do not like the taste of them."
Fred was very releived that his plans were working out. He knew that the
dog would go and was glad that atleast the teenager would be safe.
"GO THEN!" Yelled the dragon looking toward the pathetic creature.
The dog took off in a run and disappeared around the corner of the dark
cave.
Fred was trying to decide what he would do next. He had saved the dog but
now he had to find a way to save himself and defeat the dragon.
Finally after a tense moment Fred broke the silence "What is it that you
desire most Dragon?...There must be some reason that you go around
burning villages and feilds. Why do you not kill the people instead of
turning them into animals?"
"You are asking me to many questions!And i do not answer to a small man.
Maybe i will turn you into an animal just for your insolence...."The
dragon was looking rather upset,if that is, a dragon possesed such
emotion thought Fred.
"I only want to help you dragon...the king sent me here to slay you but
since i have discovered that you did not kill the villigers and only
turned them into animals....maybe we can come up with an agreeable
solution for everyone....please.....tell me why you are so upset.."
The huge beast looked almost thoughtful for a moment as he assesed
whether the man could be trusted......
