Lady Andrea order her carriage driver south. She knew that the Duchess of
Suffex was her second cousin, and would welcome her. They were both about
the same age, and had known each other since childhood. Perhaps together
they could adventure in the mountains of Shreken. She dreamed of goblins
and orcs, the fun they would have together, and the glory that would be
theirs for conquering evil. The long journey south was dull at best. Andrea wished she had brought something or someone to entertain her, such as that lad from the kitchen upon whom she had her most recent fixation. He was the perfect human specimin; not soft as the nobles about her were, but strong and rugged. He was so naive and could be taught so much. If he were with her, there could be much entertainment--so much entertainment indeed. But he was not here, and she grew lonely. If only she had brought footmen! The road south was so much longer than she remembered. Night fell and the coachman stopped to feed and water the horses. He loosened the reigns to rest their weary backs. Andrea at her sliced fruit and bread while watching him work. This was the part for which she wished she had some of her mother's guards. Although this road was fairly safe, she worried that some ill might befall her. She took out her silver-encrusted hand mirror, checked her face and wondered what to wear the next day for her arrival at Suffex. It would probably be her royal dress, as they would arrive close to dinner. By now her coachman was completing his labors.
