Rose Flaherty was finishing her breakfast when she looked up as several
women walked into the room. She realized she had seen them before. The
one, with the tawny hair and the nose ring, another, with the dark curly
hair, and the third, with red hair like hers. She had seen them for just
an instant when they were... ...when they were werewolves. Like her, if the previous night actually happened. Rose wasn't sure if it had, or if she wanted it to have. It certainly felt good. She wished she could feel it again. She had to be miles away from the city, from what she had seen out the window, too, likely too far for even Dr. Myers to scry upon them. Like or not, she was stuck here with these women who were apparently werewolves too. Rose figured she might as well hear what they had to say. The redhead spoke. "Well, congratulations. You're apparently the first woman ever to be Blessed without actually being bitten. I'm impressed with Stanton and Myers' work." "You...you know them?" The woman with the nose ring spoke. "Some of us do," she said, looking to the one with the curly dark hair, "and some of us wish we didn't." "You're...you're not going to hurt me, are you? I'll tell you what you want to know! Professor Stanton didn't tell me anything about enemies!" The redhead spoke again, "We have no intention of harming a sister, even if we could withstand the methods necessary to do so. I can't say the same of Stanton and Myers, but I'll let you talk to Ana later if you want to know about that. Basically, though, we're stuck with you, unless we actually want them to get to you and unlock the secrets of what you've become. We don't abandon sisters." "Secrets? What do you mean?" "Well, for starters, dear, get a good look at yourself. You've lived to maturity, so what you see there is how you're going to look from now on." "How?" "Pretty simple. You're effectively immortal. All of us are. We don't age. Erin will, as she's not quite mature yet, but eventually she'll stop." "My God..." "Stay calm, it's the least of your worries. We've got to teach you some things, or you'll end up getting yourself or others hurt." "Why didn't the professor tell me this?" "Most of it he didn't tell you because he didn't know. The Society doesn't understand us. They do know we're immortal, though, and that part he likely just didn't feel you needed to know. Secrets have power, after all." "But how could I hurt others? It just felt good when it happened, nothing more." "It always does. You see, Rose, you're not who you were before. You're not just a woman, you're a wolf, and you'll always be a wolf whether you've got fur or not. It changed you last night, and even now, your body is still undergoing changes." "Jesus, this feels like my High School health class." The strawberry blonde snorted at this, flushing a little, then the redhead continued. "It very much is. Being a werewolf is tied to many aspects of womanhood, and you won't just change during the full moon." "I won't? That's great! Damn, but I'd love to feel that again." "It's not that good. Tell me, do you have a boyfriend?" "Not presently." "That's probably for the best, because you'll never be able to safely be with a man again." "What? What the hell?" "There's a reason femininity is so associated with the moon, Rose. Your hormones are tied into the wolf. Menstruation has a chance of drawing it out. So does sexual arousal." "Bullshit!" The redhead sighed, "don't believe me, eh? Well, close your eyes and have your own little private fantasy. We'll see who's bullshitting whom." Rose raised an eyebrow skeptically only to get a no-nonsense look from the redhead. She shrugged, and shut her eyes, imagining the most sexual things she could muster. She barely noticed as a tingling crept into her fingers as her nails began to lengthen, a satisfied smile playing across her face as her fantasizing continued, showing sharpening teeth. She was deep in her own world as her hair grew down her back, making small, gratified snarling and growling noises as fur sprouted along her arms and blossomed in a ruff from the neck of the bathrobe they had provided her with. Shortly, a long luxurious tail lifted up the back of the robe, and she let out an abrupt howl which finally shook her from her reverie. Rose opened her eyes rather suddenly, and looked sheepishly at the others through her auburn mane. "That was...incredible..." "Incredibly dangerous, more like. Imagine a person being on the receiving end of that. We try not to draw the wolf out that way if we can, because we're prone to follow through on the impulses that coaxed it free if we do. Let me tell you, you don't want to be randy when you need to fight." Rose flushed at that, crossing her legs a little. "So I'm immortal, and I can never get close to anyone?" "About the size of it. It's rough, true, but would you want to kill someone accidentally? The wolf plays rough, even when it's in that kind of mood." "So how do you bear it?" "Well, sometimes you get lonely, and you get just crazy enough to endanger someone. The safer thing, though, is to vent it on those able to take it, and well, that's other sisters." "What the hell? I'm not a lesbian!" "Wait awhile. It won't sound as bad as you have to do without for a long time. Besides, you likely already feel a little...close...to us." Rose barely stifled a snarl, and flushed deeper. "So what...what happens now?"
