The trio had nowhere to flee; the great range of men and riders was
overwhelming. Belboz took in the situation without losing a second. He
eyed Fred, shuffled towards Andrea and let out a blasting yell: "Ali
nazor! Nali zorai! Mefeesto kenien kanigit mageet!" What transpired
next was most incredible. The earth and stones trembled, an awesome pink
light erupted from under the sands and enveloped Belboz, Andrea and Fred,
the riders were thrown from their steeds, the rangers fell to their knees,
and Fred flew through the air as if thrown by a terrible force.
Smoke rose from under the thoabath's clothing, his very skin smoldered. His eyes shown red with fury, his lips trembled in pain and surprise. Andrea screamed as much by the unexpected appearance of the pink light as by what it did to Fred. The men who came as would-be marauders scrambled as fast as they could from that place. Fred, staring with hate at Belboz, uttered only two words: "Big mistake." Then it seemed as if the thoabath began to burrow into the dislodged earth and within moments he was gone. Andrea, befittingly, fainted.
