At least the stream of lava made it easy to decide to risk crossing the
pool.
They turned and ran through
the pool (which was about knee-deep) and on down the tunnel on the far
side, hoping that
the water would cool the
lava enough for the flow to slow down and maybe even stop.
They heard a great hissing as the lava reached the water. Risking a glance over his shoulder, all Fred could see was a great cloud of steam. They had now left the pool a hundred yards behind them, and it seemed safe to slow down to a walk. "Phew!" Frederigo said. "I wonder where that lava came from. There was no sign of it when I came through the door. Exotica shrugged. "All part of the dragon's tricks, I expect," she said. "At least going through the pool doesn't seem to have done us any harm."
