Puss to the Rescue?

Andrew's bathroom had become decidedly overcrowded. Andrew stood with his
back to the door. In front of him, only a few feet away, stood a hideous,
terror-inspiring... thing was the only word that came to his
terrified brain. Right behind it was the incongruous trio of the medieval
knight, the naked girl and the small dog. Behind them was another
of the monsters. And behind it was a portal in the process of
winking out of existence. In normal circumstances, Andrew's attention
would have been riveted on the girl, but such was the situation that he
hardly noticed her.
Time seemed to stop for a moment. The humans and the dog were paralysed with terror, and the two monsters saw no need to hurry. Then Andrew's cat wandered into the bathroom, looking for him. (It felt it was its supper time.) On seeing the two monsters, its fur stood on end. It arched its back and hissed. Then it sprang at the nearer monster.
